Default KW won't start

Anybody got any suggestions. Occasionally, this thing won't start with the key and you've got to jump the solenoid, atleast get it to arc, then it'll start. I'm in S.D., I've got to unload a piece in the mornin 200 miles away, and I can't get it to start no way, no how. Even when you jump the solenoid, it won't kick the starter over. I wish I wouldn't had shut it off, but I had to make a dash for the truck stop because there was a tornado comin at me. Any help would be appreciated

Can you get someone to back up, trailer to trailer, and push start you?
Or coast it downhill?
Sometimes you can whack the starter with a hammer or bar, and it'll go.

Jason..sounds like to me you have a dirty connection on the hot side of the solinoid..........I would never believed it b4 but I saw with my own eyes a connection that looked to be excellent and sure enough the cable inside the sealed sheath was extreamly overtaken with that bad acid green crap.........I cut the cable open and it went up 4-5 inches.

If you dont have time to do this then jump from the battery to the other side of the solinoid that will get ya goin

I don't know, that things got so many wires on it. I'll look at it and see if I can figure out which one to jump. My boss is sleepin, he could show me but he can't tell me. I ain't had this truck very long, my other one never gave me any trouble. he said this one has always done it, he's put two or three starters on it, all the same thing.

turn the key on
follow big wires from the battery to the solonid
jump from battery hot to the oppisite side of the solinoid wich will basically give you direct to the starter

The wire that's meesed up goes from the big hot on the solenoid to the cables on the starter that I assume are hot.

first get a pair of pliers and just jump around the solinoid.it wont shock you .........big cable to big cable.....this will basically eliminate the solinoid
