I've also never heard of it happening to anyone, not sure why it had to happen to us though. I am going to take the nut to work with me tomorrow and see if our fab shop has any die's that are close.

Got it fixed. The shaft was fine, the threads had nut material in them. I put the gear on and took it to 150 LBS with the torque wrench without any issues. Tomorrow night we will put her back together. I am just glad that there was not damage to the shaft.
