Default PCM

I have a non charging issue. Alt. is good, had 1 bad battery replaced it and was getting intermittent charging. Now no charging. Could it be my PCM?

Believe the ECM controls the charging system. Check for a blown fuse.

Eliminate a grounding issue , run a jumper cable from the neg battery terminal to the engine pulling hook , if your problems go away then replace your ground wire

are you saying that you dont have an ECM on an 01??? if so you are dead wrong, its located on the side of the block underneath the intake manifold.

now, inside your fuse box there is a 140 amp fusible link that is screwed into two battery style cables, check that, its rare but the condition you described is exactly what happened to me last september on my 99, that fusible link went bad and i tried everything to figure out why it would charge. sad part is that the only place that has those fusible links heavy enough to handle the load is the dodge or cummins dealers.

if you do end up needing an ECM or a PCM, let me know, i have a brand new 2001 ECM and a PCM, never used that i can sell to you.

yes, there is a way to check it, but it requires a DTR series multi scanner with the up to date cummins/dodge software. You can try and autozone style scan tool but often times it wont work and if it does, itll give wrong codes. shoot on my 99 5 spd it tried telling me once that my automatice transmission selinoid was out . A smarty has the DTR programing if nto, take it to the dodge dealer, only way to be sure. if you havent checked the the fusible link, do that, actually go ahead and replace it, its only 6 bucks from the dealer. if you still have the problem, take you alternator in and have the voltage regulator checked, then scan the ECM which controls the voltage regulator. dont buy anything until you narrow the problem down. thats how i got the PCM/ECM set, i thought they were bad and it ended up being a simple fusible link which i found before mounting them.

Also, check your battery cables carefully, i just had a problem with mine, the ends were cracked underneath and werent making good contact.
