Default 06 dodge looses power when you get on it.

I have an 06 Dodge with the 5.9 Cummins. The truck seems to run fine under normal driving, but when I get on the gas a little heavy it looses power, it feels like it is going to die but doesnt, and as soon as I let off the pedal it goes back to running fine? After it did this the first time I changed the fuel filter, but it did not help.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Prod T. Fukner

I dont know about the smoke. The engine light had been on with 3 codes.
1. Battery
Temperature sensor
Circuit Range/Performance

2. Ecm/Pcm Power
Input Signal
Intermittent

3. Ambient air
Temperature Sensor
Range/Performance

The codes were listed like that. I changed the batteries and the light has not come back on.

uhhhh... I'm gonna have to let someone else take this one. Could be ALOT of things... Fuel pressures, ECM bad, ect. Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Might not be flowing enough fuel.

Yes I changed the filter last week. It had no effect.

Thanks,

Do you have any performance work done to the truck?

Will it accelerate from a stop fine? What about climb a hill? If it lacks power like you are describing it could be that it is in limp mode, or that the rail is draining.

No, no performance work has been done, the truck is stock, with 70K miles, city driving, no towing. I have not tried to accelerate hard from a stop. I will give it a try tomorrow. As for hills we dont have any of those things round here. Ive heard about em but cant say Ive seen one.

Thanks,

Prod

Your truck was in limp mode and probably still is. Clear the codes, and it will be back to normal.
