Stalling ,Hard start P1650 / J1850 Codes...2003 Ram Cummins 6spd
Hello all....
Need some help...Please !
2003 Ram 2500 Crew, Cummins 305/555 6spd 3.73...Quadzilla Race box..
Driving home last nite 25 below zero....truck sputterd twice comming from a stop sign...I figured it maybe jelling...put in some 911...seem too run fine...headed for home...about a 30 min drive.......after 20 min I had too make a turn...slowed up..and it acted as if I had turned the key off...it was dying out.......I dropped into 3rd and it slowed to a crawl about 1200rpm....and all of a sudden power came back...happend 3 more times almost the same over the next ten miles.......Pulled it in the shop at home...pulled the fuel filter...clean (week old) ...checked the codes...got the p1650 / j1850 buss / ground problem....My dash guages went nits a couple times too on my trip..lost all the gauges.......all the check eng ligts/abs ligts came on.....overhead counsel quit....all came back on...(this has happened several times in the last few months, but didnt seem too affect anything)......took a while too crank and fire
I checked for bad grounds...Main battery side (driver) too block was a bit loose.....tightened it up...
Started this morning no problem....let it run 20 min too warm....got the little one strapped in...backed out...died..........cranked and cranked....on third cycle it fired....pulled it back in the shop.........(no codes) ......
last week I replaced #1 injuctor and tube.....all have been replace in the last yr.....set the overhead....new in tank Dodge pump......about a yr ago
Im at a loss...Im starting too question its dependability...300K miles....
Any Ideas ?

I'd be looking real hard at the ECM, or at least the power supply to it. Unfortunately, if the ECM itself craps out, it won't "tell on itself" and post a code. At 6 years old and 300,000 miles, I'd be checking and cleaning every ground I could find.

I know a friend of mine has a 3500 same year....about the same miles he had a ECM go...but was dead in the water.....I did unhook the box....no change...I guess the part I may have left out..when it restarted this morning..it wouldnt rev up....step on the pedal....just bog....nothing...got it in the shop again..shut it down....started after a couple cycles....reved no problem ?
No black or white smoke...nothing id consider out of the ordinary anyways
