Default 97 cummins waterpump explosion!

al right not exactly. i drove 15 miles then sat in a parkinglot without it runnin for about 10 mins cranked it back up heard a pop sound pulled bout a hundred feet then smelled antifreeze. one of the bolts that hold the pump on broke off and antifreeze went everywhere. the bolt is not rusty at all! what made it do this do i need to check other things while im there. before i tear it apart whats the easiest way to pull the water pump off. any help wold be great i plan on starting this saturday afternoon. thanks guys!!!

doing the water pump is easy, loosen the belt, you might have to take off the fan IDK, and unbolt the sumbitch and wa-la

you could also take pics and do a write up on it

well once you get the rest of them out and get the water pump out you should be able to get a pair of vise grips on whats left of the bolt and turn it out that way

i dont think so. i believe the bolt is broke further in than that. that part of the pump is thin

go down and get a set of left hand drill bits, and a can of aerokroil penetrant oil and soak it down should come out fine, but thats weird, allthough ive seen some weird breaks in the past,
