I have an 03 cummins common rail, and the turbo shaft came apart. Where do i start to check for damage and how extensive can it be?

all the air intake especially the air to air exchanger and check the boost tube from the intercooler to the air intake to the motor if there is fragments there.could score cylinder wall bent valves. i think the parts alone will be expencive
