2007 Duramax Smokin
I've got a 2007 duramax. The truck has a programmer, K&N filter and no muffler. I have a hauling company and use my truck everyday. Latley, it's been putting out more black smoke than normal. Any advise would help?

With a programmer your gonna have more smoke when your working them. I also know as weather temps go up and humidity mine smokes more. Could be just warmer weather I'm sure someone else with a DMax will be able to help you out more than me

Use your programmer to check for any codes. Just because there isn't a CEL doesn't mean there are no codes.
Have you noticed a loss in boost pressure or higher EGTs?

Also, have you tried running your stock tune just to see what happens?
I'm going to move this into the Diesels in Distress Section for better exposure.

What programmer is it, is it a K&N drop in filter or intake?
Check for any leaks or loose clamps on the IC boots.

Black smoke from extra fuel, it is probably just smoking from the extra fuel being dumped in by the tuner along with putting a load on it.

Maybe hes had the programmer for a while and been towing with it, but something came up.
But we wont know that till he comes back

My trailer way's 8,000 lbs. I haul dozers, backhoes, and other equipment. My typical load weighs about 14-15000 lbs. Total wieght of about 20,000 lbs towing. I live in H TOWN and it is humid. Once the turbo spools up it seems to have less smoke. The K&N is a brop in. I drilled 1 1/4 holes on the top of the filter housing and took off the front of the filter housing to get more air flow. I was getting about 13.4 mpg towing and now I'm getting about 11.3. I've cleaned the air filter. My buddy has the same truck and everything done the same as mine and he is getting about 13.5 while he is towing. Thanks for all the input so fast.

I'm new to the site how do i get to the destress site. The programmer is a quadzilla on 70 horse. I got it last October and it was getting a little cooler. Now it is in the mid 90's and about 75+% humidity.

probably just the weather, let us know if anything changes.
The AC-Delco filter filters better, there is also a Intake mod for the lbz's. https://www.dieselbombers.com/chevy-...irbox-mod.html
and leave the AC-Delco in there.
Ive been towing with my stock intake lately out in Canyon city and it rolls that coal so much i cant see the cars behind me. But i do have it on my 500+hp efi tune
what part of houston
