Hello everyone I am new to this site. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. I recently purchased my first diesel. It is a 2004.5 ram 2500. Truck is bone stock except for a kn air filter. The problem I am having is intermittent. Usually at low rpm while driving such as approaching a stop sign the truck will stall. It doesn't sputter or smoke at all. Just dies. When this happens if I cycle the key the fuel gauge reads empty and truck will not start. Wait a minute or two truck and cycle the key again fuel gauge reads properly and truck will start and run. It's never been hard to start or ran rough when it is running.the truck does have a carter low pressure pump on the frame rail. Sometimes this will happen to me five or 6 times on a trip then not happen for a week. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Have you checked for codes ?
Turn key on and off 3 times, this will show codes if there are any.
