PowerSmoke 6.0 Woes
I'm in the middle of resurrecting one of these 04 6.0L Powerstrokes from the dead. Its been sitting for 5 years, owner parked it due to "white smoke". Did a vacuum test on the coolant system, and decided it was a leaking EGR cooler. Tore it down and sure enough the EGR cooler, intake, exhaust, all full of coolant. pressure tested the cooler off the truck, just for safe measure, leaked like a sive.
Problem is, got it all back together, ran it for about 30 min in the yard and its still smoking white ... My instincts say this is from the pool of coolant that surely exists in the exhaust system.. but I also noticed a white film forming in the oil fill tube, along with very small puffs of white smoke. Not sure if this is normal? Or the truck has deeper issues ...
While i had it running, the coolant res. never hissed, or burped at all ... I hear those are the signs of head gaskets...
I also changed the oil cooler while I was in there. Doubt that has anything to do with all this, but maybe....
Any help would be great, might owe someone a if we solve this !

Yup, Rotella 15-40. I can see there being some water left in the cat that still needs to burn off ... but what would cause the white greasy film in the oil fill tube ? and is it normal for it to smoke a little with the cap off while running ??
