so my truck would not start it wouldn't even make a sound when I went to turn it over I replaced my batteries and I got the starter rebuild kit from Genos garage then installed it still nothing but when I bang on the starter with a hammer while I hold the ignition start it starts right up. also I am getting power to everything else and like I said once I tap the starter it starts right up and runs just fine.

 

When you reassembled the starter, did you snug the housing together evenly? It sounds like the plunger or lever is binding.
