Default smog check killed engine

HELP!!! 3 different smog stations with same result, engine dies as soon as test starts. Its an early 99 production date 3/98. Its got every bolt on or uploadable mod that can be done but even tried testing after I disabled or removed them with no changes except that when I pulled the Banks Ottomind it seemed as if I added about 100HP, if anybody has the answer to that one that would be great too. Im getting drilled by the meter maid constantly for exp tags so im on my knees and begging for guidance. Thanks in advance!

Jeff

checking for stored codes or at least the 2 parameters required from a diesel one being any misfire and not to sure about the other, possibly EBP? They plug into the OBD port and after they initiate the test it kills the motor within 5 seconds.

wow that sucks, wouldnt think any truck over 8500gvw would have to do the emissions test guess every state is different. So it still shuts off when they run test with all your tuners off the truck?

Anything a bankrupt state can do to rob people and dictate. Yeah I pulled everything, Edge, six-gun, MSD DPI just in case even the turbo timer. But the bigger thing that's got me baffled is the fact that when I pulled the banks ottomind from the ECU it was a completely different truck. It feels as if I had just gained about 200HP, I s#@* you not it was almost undriveable and if I flipped the propane injection back on lets just say that living in CA with our crappy freeway maint and a 4X4 crewcab with 42"s and 14 inch lift with throttle response from hell... it became a little scary! Im trying to do more research on this issue but not coming up with any explanations as of yet,

Virginia Smog Checks - Emissions Regulations, VA Smog Testing Stations at DMV.org: The DMV Made Simple

I just read this and you need to check it out. So why are they attaching a gasser OBD II system test to a diesel?

http://www.dmv.state.va.us/vehicles/#emissions.asp or read here.

Im sorry I wasn't very clear on this but no there not putting the sniffer to it only doing a visual, a snap test to check for excessive smoke and checking the ECU for codes. Thanks for the link I will check it out when I get home.

i know about the snap test and the visual safety insp. if they are tryin to check memory codes it could make the truck stall if it is running

The only to check for codes is with the engine off. Otherwise, it will shut the truck down.
