97 5.9 12 valve not as snappy after removing pump for tappet cover leak
hi new to diesels but here goes had oil leak on tappet cover thats repaired now did killer dowel pin at same time truck is stock i think 12v valve 5 speed standard it has a straight pipe 3inch i think from stock turbo back it used to pull really good on turbo whistled when you changed gears and for a while when you shut truck down now the truck does seem to be very snappy I am sure the timing is right it runs like my old 90 12 valve non intercooled truck any help would be greatly appreciated wondering if it is gap on sensor by bottom front pulley read some where that just controls tach. tach is working thanks for now terry

the CPS by the crank wouldnt effect how it runs at all it only runs the tach on a stick shift truck, well and its used for the alt too but again dosnt effect how it runs. how are you sure that the timing is correct? have you checked it since you reinstalled the pump? how tight did you torq the nut on the pump shaft? any smoke at all? are you sure you hooked the boost line back up from the head to the back of the AFC housing on the pump?
