Default front axel u-jiont HELP!!!!!!!!

I finally got the truck in my garage to shoot some electrical problems but I thought I'd tackel a bad u-joint first. Now I'm stuck. I have the front end on jacks. Removed the four bolts from the front drive shaft flang that connects to the transfer case but the drive shaft is stuck. I expected the drive shaft to drop right out but its tight. How to I get the drive shaft out? Do I need to remove ther rear drive shaft also? All I want to do is replace a lously $15 u-joint! I have been at this for 3 hours! 2004 ram 2500. quad cab....
