powerstroke low icp and injector cackle
I have a 99 powerstroke 7.3 180k auto.it all started with a high idle after engine got warm it seemd only noticable in reverse and no codes exept ebp sensor i then developed a chopy idle and low icp code i changed icp with one on ebay didnt help so i bought one from ford witch isnt cheap still no fix i erase the code while running and it dosent come back on till i kill it and restart it.My buddy who works for ford said to replace connector so i did still no fix.I just been running it with the icp unplugged the choppy ide goes away but still wants to take off in revrse lke ur mashing the pedal,but a few months ago it died while driving and since ive replaced #8injector cause it failed contribution test,cam sensor,replaced all injector orings,checked both uvchs,changed ipr checked fuel pressure and regulater and idm and oil in resovoir is a inch from top checked valves and lfters.Since it died it has what i call valve knock,but ive been told its called injector cackle on driver side sonds like number 8 and smoke white smoke pretty bad on startup kinda goes away when it warms up but if you rev it up it will blow out white smoke unburnt fuel will burn your eyes inside my garage.the icp is reading at idle warm about 475 IPR 14 TO 17 since it devolped the cackle the idle is normal no more lopping or high but driving it it has very little power and of course sounds bad rattling it dosent rattle knock,cackle at idle.I Have done every thing but pcm,and HPOP ive pealed back and went over most of the wiring im a mechanic but not on diesels this thing has got me puzzled any help or advice im leaning toward hpop

It sounds like a High pressure oil leak... From the numbers you posted, the IPR is working a little harder than it should at idle. Should only be 9-11% duty cycle...

Thanks for the info Think im just gona order me a pump i just tried a pcm out of by buddys truck and still no change and watching the numbers on the scanner i think it something to do with the pump my ipr is at 16 now and icp at460 to 490
