Default I need my 6.5 to come alive

I have a '94 k2500 extended cab with a 6.5td. Bought it with 225000 on it, kinda rough but impressive power. 2nd time i drove it i experienced the 'Hey did someone turn the key off'? Started right up and was fine for months. My wife first experienced the 'surging', no power loss, just increase. Cutting to the chase, I made an extension harness and relocated the PMD to the back side of the bumper, by the way the original pmd is still on the IP, the one i relocated was on the side of the intake. Ran fine for a while then for the first time the 'service engine light would intermittently come on, then the surging started again, and finally one day the stalling started again. By the end of the day there was a quick start and then endless cranking... I was thinking the pmd but a shop said to check the IP, because there is a part in there that regulates the fuel flow, and yes because its an OBD1, do the paperclip test. Thats fine but... what terminals??? I have tried to locate a picture to see which terminals, but results have not been helpful. I have read a couple hours worth of posts but havent come up with anything..... so HELP, I want to be among the diehard group that can keep these 6.5's going.
