Hello All...
Hello everyone, justed wanted to introduce myself a little. I enjoyed reading the posts through-out the site. My name is P.J. and I live in Franklin IN. My first new truck I bought a new 1998 F150 Triton V8 2 wheel. I drove it for 283,000 miles and no major issues. Liked it so much I bought a 2008 F250 Diesel 4X4 Lariat..unfortunately I lossed my job 30 days later and even worse about 9 months later (2010) I had to surrender the truck... Now I have new job and I am getting on my feet and I am looking for antoher truck. Here is my situation, I am now working at Cummins at want to try a 2008 Cummins powered Dodge, but honestly I am afraid to. I do know the motor is tough, but frankly I have watched Dodge trucks fall apart around the engine... have you folks noticed the same thing, or do you think the Ford truck itself is a better product concerning interior, bed, frame, etc...

Coming from some ones who owned both. I had a 99 powerstroke auto and now I recently just got a 99 ext cab auto matic 24 valve with a built tranny,tc lock ip switch and small tuner. And so far I love it. I don't like the play in front end but it can be fixed. Every truck has their own issues no matter what brand. Seeing as how you want an 08 I wouldn't be to worried about it falling apart like maybe a older 12 valve or 24 valve that's been molested by 16 year old kids. Drive a few fords and drive a few dodgesand go from there. Good luck and welcome!!

first welcome to the site!! Second, I agree with 1999, each brand has its quirks, Ive seen dodges of that year go forever working as a pipeline welding rig with no major problems. Maybe just front end work. I've driven fords on and off road and They (for the most part) do very well. I dont care for the chevys of that era at all, they really do fall apart. If I were looking for a 2008 dodge, which I was by the way, I'd find one that has been babied just to be on the safe side. I looked at one that had 286,000 miles on it, resistol trim, sweet, and perfect all around, It was babied by its owner and pampered in every way. I like and respect both in their own individual ways. anyway, welcome again and good luck on the truck hunt.

I do feel the need to add that the most fun I've ever had driving a truck was in a 98 dodge ext cab dually stick shift. I loved that truck, It had *****.

welcome to diesel bombers! make your decision carefully! i own a ford right now, and the only complaint i have about it is the engine. body is tight and drives very solid..
the strongest feeling truck i have drove was a 2004 crew cab long bed cummins dually with a 6 speed. it was fun and felt like it had more power than my 6.0, or my uncles 7.3

I will buddy... honestly I am scared to death of getting anything but a Ford when it comes to trucks.. But I have never owned a Dodge. Personally, I think they went to hell in the 80's...I think they destroyed American Motors, Jeep was an awesome product and probably at one time had the best 4 wheel drive system on the market... But now that I work at Cummins I want to support the product we push...I am on the hunt for an 2008 6.7 diesel, 8ft bed supercab. You what really sealed the deal.. No joke..I seen some chick driving a 5.9 possibly and 89-92 dodge with dual smoke stacks..and a big sticker in the window that said "BLACK SMOKE MAKES ME HORNY"... I have to buy a Cummins right????
