cool Hello out there!

I am a long time lurker and I need to introduce myself. First my story.

I have an '03 F250 that was previously my fathers. Before that I drove his '85 until about seven years ago. I now have the '03 and it has been an awesome vehicle. However I have heard many stories about how the 6.0L can be expensive to rebuild in the shop. My cousin seemed to do everything right but his pickup caught on fire and burned to the ground as he was letting it cool down idling, after being stopped at a job site. This was after pulling a loaded trailer up a long incline. His lead foot may have lead to part of the problem. But he thought simply idling the pickup after working it, that simply would be enough.

I came down to Phoenix for school at MMI then my EGR went out. I paid quite a bit to have it replaced because Impact told me it had to be done. This came from the advice of a customer at a part's store. Later I found Strictly Diesel and they strike me as a good shop, but their shop rate hurts my wallet. However I would rather pay now versus later. I so wish I had found them previously.

I found this site when looking for the upgrades I should have done. Everything I read has been very informative. Thanks guys!

Welcome. 6.0 are great trucks their just like every other truck car out there they have quirks that need attention before failure or damage. Take care of it now wont have to worry about it later

Yeah, I have been really happy with the 6.0L

I just don't want to have a huge problem with the motor and cost me a ton of money I don't have. Where to draw the line in preventative measures? Oh the question we would all like the answer to.

Thank you for the welcome
