New from AK
Hey everybody!! I have been reading up on diesel trucks for a couple of years now but have been searching the web hard now for a few weeks. I am dead set on a cummins with a manual Trans 5 or 6 speed does not matter. I got the ok from the wife and the search was on. I found a stock 5 speed, 12v, 4x4 and im trying like hell to get it. Wish me luck! Thanks

I have a bud up around Fairbanks with an '06 6sp, and he loves it. Been driving it back and forth with a slide-in between there and CO for years now. He has the jake, warmers, winter front - all the necessary cold weather gear for it. I'd go for a later commonrail model in the interest of better cold weather reliability up there. Not that the earlier trucks arent good starters, but the commonrails are dead nuts solid in any climate, if you just have all the right stuff like I mentioned.

Ya I would like a newer model but what I've been reading about the ease of pumping up a 12v and getting it with a manual Trans seems like budget hot rod that I can tow my toys with. Plus I live in south central AK right on the coast. The lowest it gets here is -20 if that and it's for a short period. Usually hovers around 10* in the coldest months. I can park it in my shop if it gets to cold
