Hello from WPAFB, OHIO
Hello, I am the proud owner of a 04.5 2500 4x4 that is just about to turn 120K.
I am stationed at Wright Patterson AFB right here in Dayton, OH. I like it here, but the winters are hard on my vehicles. They salt the roads here A LOT. I don't mind the weather, but I am looking forward to moving just because of the surface rust I am seeing.
I use this truck for everything. Mainly it is my daily driver, but occasionally it pulls my 20ft enclosed trailer. I usually most of my household goods myself with change of station. Last go, I tripped the scales at 21k so occasionally she has a chance to prove herself.
This morning I noticed a growl/clicking noise from the front right wheel. I limped into work by taking it easy on the back roads - after I parked, I checked it out the best I could by grabbing tire and looking for perceptible motion. I found nothing, but I have the uneasy feeling that a wheel bearing is about to frag. Tomorrow I will have some time to jack it up and get a better idea of what I am up against.
I have been thinking about a free-spin kit since I bought the truck, now I may have a legitimate reason for doing it. I will do ball joints and front U-joints at the same time, too. Probably get the BD steering brace also.
Great to be on a site with folks that know the "in's and out's" of my vehicle. I do all of my own maintenance and repair on all of my vehicles. I have been scouring the posts about this free-spin install - looks straight forward.
I will try to keep you all posted and maybe get a few pictures up.
Take care,
Ben
