Default New in CO

Hey everyone, I recently bought a 99 Ram. I've wanted a Cummins pickup since I was in elementary school, and recently had the chance to fulfill that dream. Starting off the modding process slow with some cosmetic changes and preventative maintenance: replace cracked exhaust manifold, install gauges, rebuild front suspension, big honkin air filter, exhaust, paint grille surround and bumpers to match, black wheels, and some other little things. Eventually I plan on some big power mods. Any advice for the above would be appreciated as well as suggestions.

to DB!

You need a Fuel Pressure gauge and an Airdog or Fass fuel pump to start with before anything else IMO. These LPs suck on our trucks so this is all preventive maintenance so you won't be shelling out $1000+ for a new IP.

Welcome.from steamboatsprings. If its an automatic get some mods done to the tranny. Those slushboxes don't like the added horsepower.

Yes the VP44 injection can go out if your factory lift pump takes a dump. AirDog or Fass. I run a AirDog 100 on my 24v. Havent had any issues in 5 years and 100k miles. Truck is almost to 200k miles total and still going strong. Exhaust, Id go 4in turbo back. Dont waste your money on a 5in. If you can go ahead and get a 3 piece exhaust manifold. I had a BD one. Worked great. What all do you need to rebuild on the front end?How many miles are on the truck? Auto or manual?
