First time here; really enjoyed looking at posts. A trusted friend and fellow helo driver asked if I'd be interested in his 2001 GMC Duramax; 3500; dually; 4x4 crewcab; white. It has 51K miles; he bought it new; never pulled a trailer; only slide in camper. Impeccable maintenance history; even still smells new.

I can drive it home for $18K; 6 tires BRAND new. Price to me is sig below wholesale; so the issue? First time in diesels, fellas. And I've read some horror stories about the injector problems with these early Duramaxes.

Thoughts please?

And, as you do, would you please tell me how you might continue to care for it; he uses Shell Rotella....continue? As I said, first time in diesel; but my other GMCs have 180K + each; Mobil 1 and meticulous care.

Best regards,

--Bryant

Sounds like a good deal not every LB7 has injector problems, but since it is an 01, the injector warranty wont help if they happen to go bad. If you get the chance switch to synthetic oil.

Hey welcome aboard, I think I saw this post on another board.. I think that the mileage is pretty low for an 01. As always try to get them down a little.

I had a LB7 and used the Rotella in it and never had a problem with it at all.

Good luck and stick around.

For that price I'd snag it up and put some cash back in case you do have some injector probs

Not 100% sure but I think the majority of the LB7 has the 200k injector warranty. Maybe it is 6-200.

That is what I thought, too.

Kick yo boots off and stay awhile.

Sounds like you've found a pretty nice deal there.
