Hello Everyone,
as you know my Jeep Wrangler JKU Sport 2009 runs a VM Motori (RA 428 DOHC) diesel engine.
Some pics with the Yellow mellon over http://s1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff422/ipampu/IJT/.
Does anyone know a link here on the forum to find out more about this diesel engine? Some cons and pros are wellcomed? Thank you!
For interrested JKU owners here is a link with the 2007 Service Manual for the Jeep Wrangler.
Cheers,
John

John,
let me be the first welcoming you on this site.
You will find out how to modify (to bomb) this engine very quickly.
Possibilities are endless. Power adders like bigger injectors are availble, also custom made exhausts to decrease turbo backpressure. You should be able to install a bigger turbo or to install a bigger compressor.
Electronic tuning to delete the EGR is also possible and been done here.

Have you any idea if the new egr from 2012 is doing better than the 2009 model?
According to http://www.jeeppress-europe.com/press/detail/11278 it seems that the new vm motori was a bit upgraded with respect to injectors and other stuff.
Bellow is the excerpt from the europe jeep press release which supports my question.
"Other improvements and features incorporated into the new Euro V, 2.8-liter diesel engine include a new composite intake manifold, new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, reduced friction ring pack, electric swirl control, oil and exhaust temperature sensors, standard diesel particulate filter (DPF) and additional adjustments for improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH)."
A translation of the above in English would be fantastic when you have some time for a newbie.
Is it just marketing or some bells were ringing at chrysler with respect to the initial crd vm?
Thanks
John
