Gear newb

been messing with cars for a long time, recently have decided my jeep needs to go diesel, which means my mind needs to make the switch as well, so here i am.

What year is your jeep? Try www.4btswaps.com They have alot of really good info about the cummins if you go that way.

its a 75 cj5. from my reading so far, lots of folks been saying the cummins might be too heavy for off road use in non dry climates

Its pretty heavy, about 700lbs. Nothing a big set of meats won't make up for. The advantage to them is thier almost bullet proof.

thats good to know, so far i have been looking at those and also the Mercedes-Benz OM617 5-Cylinder Diesel. still got lots to learn

Yap its amazing how much stuff there is. Only reason I know how much the cummins weighs is I have one sittin in storage. Have had to move it around a time or two.

haha, i know how that goes. couple months ago i finally got tired of paying for a storage shed, when i cleaned it out i had 6 spare motors i was keeping around for rainy days and the occasional thrown rod. ended up giving them to one of the local highschools.

My storage is free thank goodness, its an old 2 horse trailer sittin next to the house. I was originally gonna put it on my 87 wrangler but I sold it, so much for that idea.
