Welcome! Wish I got into diesels as young as you did!! I would have saved a lot of money and headaches! Plus id have a nasty truck! Then again the other bonus is that when I was 16 diesel was like 0.95 gallon haha!

Good luck! Get a Cummins! LOL! You said you save every penny, that could be a lot for a hard working kid! I got my MINT 99 Ram Sport for 11k$ Good deals are out there but don't count on much help from banks. Although you CAN get a loan being young (I had 18k$ car loan at 19) most banks won't finance older trucks. Even though they are diesel and last forever. Dang newer trucks (that they would finance) are 25k$ or more!

Have fun!!!!

The debates for barand loyalty are insane...

Dodge parts aren't so bad on HD trucks. My truck has 180k and my buddies has 280k and all we have done is standard stuff... wheel bearings, brakes, shocks, so on.
I've heard horror stories about Duramax engine and overheating issues, powerstroke seems good but I have heard they cost a lot to get the HP up!

About a grand on my ram and I'm up in the 400hp and prolly close to 1k tq!

its all in personal opinion. Just keep open mind and eyes.

I had a V8, V6 Cummins will give you more power than the V8 will and has better gas mileage. forget the new trucks. just craigslist and old one. they're better and easier to bulk up anyways.
