Default Gettin in diesel

Hello everyone. No diesel yet, but been reading threads and you all have good advice. I'm currently searching for a diesel truck to replace my 07 GMC 2500. I'm open to all makes. Looking to buy used seeing how I can't afford a new diesel rig that's the same price as my house when I first bought it. Looking for dependability, and longevity in a used rig for hauling toy haulers from Ohio to SC. Needing pros and cons other than what I've already researched for months now. Appreciate your help. Leaning towards Cummins, then powersrokes, and duramax last. I have always been a GM guy, but I need true answers to help my decision. Thx.

Welcome. The Cummins is a good first choice, however, I would stay away from the Cummins equipped with a DPF which became a factory install in 2007 or 2008. Although, I read a post today about a guy who bought a DPF delete for his 07 and is very happy with it. The 7.3 powerstroke is a impressive engine with the reliability of a Ford truck. Steer clear of the 6.0 powerstroke unlesss you're interested in doing a Cummins conversion.
