2009 Cummins 6.7 work truck
Hi, i have had a 12 valve truck, a 2004 1/2 common rail, and now I have had a 2009 Cummins for a year now. The truck had " see dealer now", for the first while, and you cant go to the dealer that often when there is work to do, so I ordered a Smarty and deleted the DPF.
All was well with the ME 14 program running on SW 1 or 3 , until last week , when coolant was bubbling out of the bottle. Another worker said I know what that is, head gasket gone ! I was thinking defective rad cap, but head gasket it is.
So, I have decided to totally delete the EGR cooler and put in a wastegate, ARP headstuds, relocate the grid heater and put in the better flowing grid heater delete manifold. More air in , and more exhaust out.
The 12 valve was the best, bigger turbo and a fuel plate, and set the timing with a gear puller. I used to idle it all night with the cable operated high idle. The 2009 did not make it to work the first day and said "DPF full", so I had to take it for a drive to clean the DPF.
I will put some updates in the 6.7 section of all the mods I am doing, and how they work out. Now if I can just find out who has one of those new prototype head gaskets.
