Default New Guy from LI

hey guys im Rich from Long Island, NY.

i'm currently shopping for a diesel to replace my current truck, 2001 nissan frontier CC SC modified slightly for off road with a lift, bumper, armor, intake, exhaust, stereo...blah blah 125k miles.

i need something bigger, more powerful, and newer. probably a dodge or ford 2500 4x4 extended or crew cab so anyone selling in the area, let me know!

this is my dads truck, i caught the diesel bug from driving it for the past few summers at work. Its a completely stock 1994 12v, its an animal and surprises me constantly with its power.

i've been reading a lot, especially the acronyms, its amazing how specific these forums get moving from one truck to another. Now i realize what all the newbs feel like on the frontier sites, so i hope i wont be that annoying , but bear with me

what are your opinions on buying used bombed trucks? i know when buying offroad trucks, pre-modded trucks aren't necessarily worth more because someone obviously beat the sh*t out of it in the mud. unless i knew the owner, wouldn't a bombed out diesel mean it had been beaten and abused?

yea, it would be great to save some time and money and get a premodded truck, but is it more trouble than just buying parts and doing it yourself?
