Default Newbie home with 97 cummins 4 whl drive

Hi,
well finally bought a 97 dodge cummins 4 wheel drive and made it home with it. Have lots of plans for the future, but need to make it dependable first. It had a major oil leak on the 550 mile drive home and now that I pressure washed it and started it back up no oil leak in sight...
Maybe I need to drive down the highway? I live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and would be interested in any advice on where to get parts around here and also help with things too technical for me. I.E. pump timing. I have not met anyone around the NW suburbs that even works on there own cars, heaven forbid modify one ha ha.
I will try to post a picture of the future bomb.

Yup, drive your truck. the leak will show up under load. If your lucky it just was a oil spill!

The leak is prolly the front cover IF it's leaking. Good luck, enjoy, CHECK THE OIL LEVELS OFTEN if its leaking. See the truck in my sig? I lost 'er due to a nasty front cover leak.
