Default doin my own 6.0

Hello All: just joined this site My name is Jim I'm married (20yrs) no kids..... have been into building and restoring cars and trucks...(even an old boats) and bikes for years. My dad and I started to play with old VW's when I was a young kid, that lead to a bunch of dune buggys... back in 1977 we put a rotary engine out of my brother inlaws mazda p/u into a buggy frame and tore up glamis dunes, from there it all just sort of snow balled into any thing that had an engine. I would tear it up fix it and do it all over again!! now 35 years later I'm still into building my hot rods. I've joined this site after reading some of the threads on here about the power stroke motor and the problems WE"VE had with them. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone here. I can't stand to pay someone to do something for me that I can do my self. I know that there are alot of special things going on with this motor and it's not for the faint at heart to want to work on these beast's. so I will be asking all kinds of stupid questions.... you've been forwarned.... but stupid questions are alot cheaper than expensive repairs....this is my second diesel truck first was a '93 dodge 3/4 tom 4x4 with the cummins and the jacked up 727 with the 4th gear added on. I could not keep 4th. gear in that thing for my life. only had the banks power pak on the motor with a re-worked injector pump advanced 1.7 deg. and a 4" pipe out the back. so in late 04 I special ordered this truck I have now, from my "friendly ford dealer". It's a late 04/early 05? Kings Ranch 4door, 2wheel drive, short box, limited color, 4 bucket seats with all the bells and whisles ford had to offer. I thought this would be the last new truck I'd buy????ever. after all my dodge left me with around 300K on the clock, this should the same ....right? well after waiting 2 months in came in from the factory. it already had 35 miles on it, nobody knew why???? believe I asked. well it only gets better. on the way home it died on me.. on the mountain roads 22 miles from the dealer.. no problem I got the 24/hr. towing from ford....HMMMMMM it took them 3days to get a tow truck there to pick it up. they said the cam sensor harness had rubbed against the valve cover bolt and shorted the harness out and it had to be replaced 4 day later I got it back. but the check engine light kept comming on, took it back had to reflash the computer, that took 2days?? now at 95K on the truck I've replaced the alternator, 2 egr solenoids, 1 egr coolant hose, the degas bottle mine hadf a crack in it... I think caused from the repairs to the egr. 3 radiator caps. it's had the computer reflashed 5 times because the check engine light would come on ? computer program up grades they said.. I think that I have the smartest truck around because it would know when the upgrades would come out, and the the light would come on by itself??...WOW I'm fasinated now. Now I have more problems comming on and I'm out of warrenty but thats for another day. just wanted to introduce my self to you all.... thanks for the open ear.....or eyes... thank you for this site I think it'll help me out better then my "friendly ford dealer" ever could.... Jim
