Default Hello all!

Hello, the names Matt. I am pretty new to the diesel world, and looking forward to getting my hands dirty. I just bought a 1990 W250 with the Cummins and 5 sp Getrag trans. Its a good running truck, with some mild mods on it. It has a fully rebuild head, with ARP studs, and scheid fire rings, has a 2nd gen turbo (haven't figured out which one yet), BHAF setup, and a 4" exhaust. The truck has only 397,000 miles on it, and its just getting broke in.

I have dubbed it Project Rusty Revival. I picked it up with the sole intention of getting the body back in shape. Its a bit worse than I had initially anticipated, but nothing that will stop me from finishing the project. This truck is going to be MY project, and I am going to try to fab/create everything i need for it.

The final plans for the truck are very mild, as I am a college kid with more bills than income alot of times. Once the body is restored, a buddy who is a body guy, and myself are going to paint it in a dark gunmetal gray. I am not lifting the truck, and am going to be running Crager Soft 8 wheels on it with 33" tires.

A little about myself... I am a hardcore gearhead, and I have been a shade tree mechanic since I was about 12, helping dad work on stuff, then when i got my own car I had to keep that hunk running. Currently, I am very focused on performance, and have a Cobalt SS that I drag race. Its my baby for sure. I run very close to the 12's, on a mostly stock car, and have goals of high 11's this summer. My truck will be my tow vehicle for the car, and it should be a nice setup.

I came here in hopes to learn a thing or 2. Like I said earlier, I am new to the diesel game, but not to mechanics and grease monkeying!

Thanks for the community!
Matt

Thanks for the welcomes guys!!!

I have a pic from the day I got her home, I am going to the garage to install the new voltage regulator, and hope that gets my charging issue sorted out. I have all week off, so I am going to get elbows deep in her, and make sure I get plenty of pictures!

Here she is yesterday when i got her home!

EDIT: I have a spare bed already lined up for it, tail lights on order as of Friday night, Fenders ready to pick up, and rockers on there way. I also got the Crager Soft 8 wheels and they should be here tomorrow, and I am going to get Cooper STT's put on hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday. I have to rewire the entire butt end of the truck, and get all the trailer lighting sorted out. And, my plan is to get the majority of it done this week! God bless Spring break!
