Default New Member-1st Diesel Ford 6.0

Hello Members. I've been reading the Ford Forums for awhile, and decided time to join. I pull a 30' 5th wheel with my 2006 Ford 6.0. Engine is stock except for K&N filter (orig owner install), and I just installed a Dieselite coolant filter, based on fear of oil cooler clogging and resultant EGR cooler failure. Orig owner is a retired Ford Worker, and it has 44K miles. Truck has been meticulously maintained, and I do the same.

Been doing a lot of reading. I recently retired, working with electronics all my life. I am a decent auto tech, but not a master mechanic. I'm better with the electronic systems than mechanical, but I can still overhaul my 72VW. I'm very interested in learning more about the 6.0.

Planning on getting SCT tuner from Eric @ Innovative, and Edge Insight monitor w/EGT gauge. Contemplating EGR Delete and Turbo Back exhaust, but I don't make decisions without a lot of thought and knowledge before acting. I plan to remove/examine/clean my EGR valve by this weekend. I also use a ScanGauge II to monitor CAN PIDs on the Ford 6.0 as well as my Ford Escape Hybrid, and the PWM PIDS on my Ford Ranger. The SGII XGauge programming is great. I'm also a former pilot and motorcycle rider, but decided to give them both up a few years ago with a perfect no accident record. I'm serious about maintenance, and do everything myself. I am certainly not a race driver. In fact, I'm just the opposite. I am a hypermiler, trying to get the best MPG possible. When towing, I try to keep the truck in the power band, coast when I can, minimize braking, let the 6.0 warm up, and never shut down until turbo has cooled for a few minutes.

Looking forward to learning more and also contributing advice on this Forum.

Thanks Bombardier. There's a lot of knowledge and experience to be found on Dieselbombers. Everybody seems to be passionate about the performance and maintenance of their trucks! If they didn't, they wouldn't bother being here.
