Default Aloha from the Big Island

Greetings everyone. I am new here although not new to forums nor diesels. Thanks Uncle Bubba for inviting me to become a member.

I have a 1991.5 4x4 diesel 250 with 350 axles. It was owned by the operator of an auto dismantler by the name of "Big Al". He died early so his son sold the truck. The beast also has a 14" high custom all steel front bumper made from a huge U-beam, trailer hitches front and rear, and doors w/electric windows from a slightly higher-end model. I also have wheels & tires from a Hummer; had to carve out the center for clearance for the rear hub. When I get it painted, I will have the truck's name put on the front fenders, "Big Al".

I tow a 6,000 pound boat (Navy Seal inflatable RIB) so the 5-speed manual is a must. I tried with 2 other trucks ('90 and '00 both Dodge CTD w/automatics) but neither would tow well. Switched back to a 5-speed and will never go back. See my website at Captain C. Dean Towle .

Sorry, but I don't care about racing or going fast for two reasons: 1) I'm old now, 2) can't get over 45 MPH on the island anyway. But I do care about making it up each hill with a load.

I do care about buying American and I love having a fully mechanical truck. I also care about the earth and alternative energy sources. My work is the Operator of a Solar Power Plant on the west side of the Big Island, Hawaii.

Again, Greetings everyone. I hope to have a good time here.

Aloha, Dean.
