Hey everyone,
I'm Adam from Wilkes-Barre PA, I recently picked up a 98 Ram 2500 with a 12V. She has about 170k on the clock and is still running strong. Evidentially the prior owner was a regular on this site (stickers on rear windows) This is my first diesel so I'm spending a lot of time reading up about the 12V Cummins on the internet.
I picked up this truck because, until recently, my father and I were towing our vehicles on an open trailer (he has a '67 Camaro he takes to shows and I have a Jeep Cherokee I take wheeling) with his '02 GMC Envoy... Needless to say it didn't do a very good job. I went on Criagslist and found this... it was a good deal at the right time.
I haven't done much modification so far... I have been spending a lot of time doing minor maintenance work to make it more reliable and help it pass state inspection at the end of the month. The truck has it's share a leaks and one by one we are buttoning them up. I have added an EGT, Boost and Trans Temp gauge to help keep an eye on things. From what I can gather from the previous owner it does have an aftermarket fuel plate and the elbow between the turbo and wastegate was swapped out.
I am doing my best to keep the stock tranny in one piece... unfortunately it may mean putting the stock fuel plate and boost elbow back in place until I can afford a decent tranny.
