Default new to cummins and loving every minute

ive got a 97 12valve with 215 pump, open turbo with no silencer ring, exhaust cut off after the cat or filter or whatever its called, that thing hollowed out, i clamped the wastegate hose and open the afc all the way. now im looking for in between 350 and 400 hp with good milage cause i pull a 35 foot gooseneck all over the bluegrass hauling horses. what do i need to do???

the turbo has metal screen from a window foled over a couple times and clamped on to keep the bad stuff out, but still let the turbo be as loud as possible.

you dont have anything in front of the turbo?? No actual air filter...I dont want to call you stupid right off the bat but that aint very smart even a little bit of dirt over a long period of time and your turbo will go boom!!!

Anyhow just my opinion on the matter if your satisfied that is good enough air cleaner go for it
and welcome to the site

yeah my friend ran the same setup on his turbo honda and he has put 30000 miles on it and still going strong and i figured if the honda can do it then mt cummins should have no problem. but if it does go that just gives me a good reason to upgrade.

You will put your truck in a lot worse places for dust and dirt than a honda. Your buddy is just lucky it has not gone yet. It is worth the $200-$300 for a good air cleaner. If you want that kind of horse power you will need to look into upgrading your full system, intake, and possibly upgrading your turbo.

Good luck.
