Learning Already!
After spending 5 years driving semis, I thought I had found most of the easy fix's and tricks regarding diesel.....Just last night I found a new one! How to get my Dodge Cummins to spit out the codes stored in memory without a reader! Wow! What a handly little trick.
I enjoy tinkering with my Cummins getting the most out of it I can, especially on the fuel mileage side, I drive an average of 200 miles per day, and on last check I am at 21.5mpg. Granted, driver style takes part in this number, but so does the K&N air filter and housing, the Edge 5 level chip, and the FASS fuel system. (Love the FASS, no more $200 lift pumps every time I turn around)
My Dodge is an 01 2500 Quad cab 2x4 with the 5 speed manual. In it's future is a bigger exhaust system, possibly a exhaust brake, and definitely larger injectors. Under consideration is an auxiliary tranny, turning my 5 into a super 10. I drive a lot of mountain passes and I can see where I could save fuel by keeping my revs in the sweet spot.
