Default HELLO AND HELP FOM NC WA

HI ALL... I AM NEW HERE... NO KIDDING....I AM IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE...
SO, I JUST PURCHASED THE DODGE TRUCK IN MY SIGNATURE, AND I BOUGHT IT WITH THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ON. I GOT A GOOD PRICE BECAUSE OF IT. I DID BUY IT FROM A USED CAR DEALER.

I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER TO HAVE THE CODE PULLED. AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GET INTO THE ABS SYSTEM BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER THE ECM WAS GIVING OUT WAS NOT THE CORRECT VIN NUMBER.
I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS A DIFFERENT MOTOR, THERE IS NOTHING HOOKED UP TO THE OBDII CONNECTOR OR THE ECM. THERE IS A QUADZILLA XZILLARAIDER VERSION 1 WITH ONLY A MAP SENSOR, AND FUEL PRESSURE CONNECTION WHICH I HAVE BYPASSED TO NO AVAIL, AND IT WAS BYPASSED WHEN THE DODGE DEALER LOOKED AT IT.

I DON'T HAVE ANY DRIVEABILITY ISSUES WITH IT AT ALL, JUST THE ABS SYSTEM IS OBVIOUSLY INOPPERATIVE. WHICH BEING AS MY WIFE WILL DRIVE THIS TRUCK IS WHY I WANT IT WORKING

THE DEALERS SAID THAT THE PROPER VIN COULD NOT BE PROGRAMMED IN, AND THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS A NEW ECM AT THE COST OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS PLUS PROGRAMMING.

IS THERE ANOTHER WAY? COULD SOMEBODY HAVE USED A PROGRAMMER? IF SO WHICH ONES WOULD BE LIKELY? COULD IT BE REPAIRED USING A DIFFERENT METHOD?

HELP AND THANKS

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I FORGOT... 135000 MILES ARE ON THE TRUCK

Well first off welcome to DB

Second you dont need to type in all caps, in the computer world thats like yelling

and third your problem...that is tricky, my friend had the same vin # problem with his truck...the only i can think of that made my lights come on was the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) its either on the rear diff or the the tail shaft of the tranny

Hello and welcome to Dieselbombers. Usually the brake and ABS light indicates a bad rear wheel speed sensor as mentioned earlier. For your ECM issues, that's probably bogus, I would suggest getting in touch with Bob Wagner about your problem, as he is the ECM wizard when it comes to these trucks.

Good luck.
