need help with mf-165 diesel
Hi, can anyone help me with a problem with my massey 165 diesel. Went out to snowblow (got 12-14" of fluff here in Michigan). Been having trouble with battery holding chrg, but had put on charger, pre-warmed motor, put in fresh fuel, and got it running. Made about 6 passes, and suddenly motor went blah. Will spin over, but won't even attempt to catch. have also been having a problem with oil(?) dripping out of plate where tach cable comes out. Leaves a pretty good drip trail, but pan is still topped off. If the drip isn't related, I can check that out with a dealer next week, but would like to get her running to finish blowing (it's getting deep). Can anyone help?
Is it turning over fast enough...............bad battery or bad connection???
oil leak...maybe needs a new gasket or O-ring..........simple fix on the next oil change when the sump is empty.......get with MF and look in the book for gasket

Check to see if the fuel shut off is hooked up .Happen to me once tractor just died the rod slipped off the pump and vibrated and shut off it took me a hour to figure it out in the field raking hay in Aug 100% humidity 98 degrees.
Sounds like it's not gettin fuel for whatever reason. I got a Massey 165 also and one of the easiest ways to tell if it's gettin fuel while your crankin it is to watch the stack. It should be puffin smoke while yer crankin and you should be able to smell fuel. If it's not puffin then you have a fuel problem someplace. Start at the begining and check for gelled fuel. From there go to the primary fuel filter, then secondary fuel filter, to the injector pump and finally the injectors. Crack the nuts open on a couple of injectors and crank the motor to make sure you have fuel flowin at least that far. All of this is assumin there is fuel in the tank.
You may want to change both fuel filters if you don't know how long it's been.
