Default New Member, I appreciate any help I can get

Hi.
I am putting a 1986 chevy 1-ton crew cab dually together for pulling a travel trailer. I was going to put in a Cadillac 500 cu. in. engine, but I've changed my mind and I'm going to install a 5.9L Cummins. I think, even though diesel is more expensive than gas, that I will save more on fuel and have better pulling power.
I've had 3 people tell me that they think I would be best using a 1992-1993 cummins for my application. I'm not looking to out run the next guy, and don't need to go up passes 80 miles an hour. I just want something that will be decent in fuel mileage and get me up the passes faster that 25-30 miles an hour.
I appreciate everyones help. And, hopefully I may be helpful to some of you along the way.
Thank you.

First off welcome to DB...

Now i would say use a 94-97 12 valve cummins, its got a little more power and the fuel delivery system is alot better IMO, or you could go crazy and put a Common Rail out of 03-07 trucks that will be a tad bit harder but it would run awesome
