I know that I don't get out here on the board as much as I need to, but after reading some of these I did feel the need to jump in here.

Once again, I just want to welcome all of our newer friends to the site and give my sincerest thanks to all of our well established friends around here. This place wouldn't be worth spit without all of you.:c:

A warning to you newbies out there. Watch out. These diesel's and this site are both addictive. I have been on this site since day one it went active and on the various sites since 1999. Coincidentally, I also bought my truck new in 1999 and I'm still driving and tinkering with it to. It's just become a part of me and if I keep going at this rate will be the only thing my kid will inherit when I'm gone.

So read, ask and learn before you blow any of your own hard earned money on yer truck. Learn from the money we wasted. For that matter, feel free to ask about wives and girlfriends to. Most of us have wasted life and money learning those lessons also.:w2:

Thanks for the welcome

I have been in a 1996 Ram2500 2wd 5speed for 10 + years.
I have made a few modest tweaks that have improved my performance.
1. I have a great mechanic in Richardson, Texas who has a veteran Diesel staff member. He was able to take my Turbo pressure up to nearly 28lbs. Not a huge advantage running around town. It great with a boat on the interstate merging into traffic.
2. All manual transmissions eventually wear out. The last rebuild I convinced my mechanic to put in a 1 to 0.73 5th gear (factory NV4500 1 to 0.85). WOW! some accommodation in 5th between 45mph and 55mph. But I am not looking for a "6th" gear at 75mph. I routinely get 20 to 22 mpg (Wind Variables) loaded with 750lbs of gear and 500lbs of people and dogs. I can't wait to see what happens with the new set up.:jump::jump:
