As far as what truck to get, you are going to have to test drive and find what you like the best. I own an 05 Cummins and love it but I would buy a DMax. The whole thing boils down to what you have planned for it. Do you plan on modding it or just using it as is? (I know that was a stupid question if you stick around here long enough) In my opinion both are really nice trucks and both will serve you well in that year model you are looking for. Just make sure if it is the Dodge to go with the 5.9 and not the new 6.7.

If only they would put a Cummins in a Chevy/Gmc, then you would have a perfect truck. I love my Cummins, but the rest of the truck has issues, but then again, its 17 years old.

Cummins all the way. Fewer moving parts, easier to work on, great power out of lot, best mileage in real world conditions and best towing (low end grunt = torque).

An older one is better but that's just me.
