Default Buy what new truck?

Let's see how many useful responses I can get to help me with an upcoming decision.

This will be my first pickup and diesel. This looks like a great community to get honest, feedback and have some fun along the way.

I need to buy (new is preference, the discounts on a '16's is amazing and I want to know the history) a towing vehicle. Cross country single enclosed car trailer 24-28 foot bumper pull or gooseneck or 5th wheel and a 26 to 30 foot 5th or gooseneck trailer will be towed.

Drove the Chevy 1 ton DRW in 2015 and was amazed. Just love how quiet and easy it was to drive. I'm a big fan of technology, quiet work area inside cab, I keep my vehicles for 10+ years sometimes and do my own maintenance, (brakes, oil, basic upgrades) and take good care of my gear.

Before I pull trigger I want to consider Ford and Dodge. I'm really open to any of these brands, I grew up with Chevy and GM cars but own Fords, a Dodge and BMW's now. I'm going to pull trigger in January for tax purposes.

Before I get to brand I think I'm unsure about 3/4 vs 1 ton. I'll be getting a black or possibly blue crew cab, 4WD, spray liner, 5th or gooseneck hookup in bed, and top or near top trim level and diesel, of course. Can't pull trigger on dually as I need to drive frequently, unladen at times. Suburbs and city edge driving as well as urban eliminate desire for dually although it's far better for higher speed highway trailer towing.

RV trailer weight is unknown but I've seen 3/4 ton specs and I can make it work, buying trailer to fall within 3/4 ton capacity limits.

Here's the basic questions:

Unladen, how much better will 3/4 ride over 1 ton? Smoother is better. Limo ride with a load is great - getting smooth ride or closer to that unladen is desired.

Other than costs, what advantages are there to 3/4 over 1 ton if I don't need extra capacity?

Should I just spend the extra few thousand and spring for the 1 ton and be done with trying to figure what RV to get due to weight or go through the effort to thread the needle finding the trailer that works with 3/4?

Which 3/4 and which 1 ton should I get (that should set off some interesting answers)?

What upgrades should I spring for first? I'm going to protect warranty so anything I've got to hide from dealer will wait.

All answers appreciated - especially funny feedback directed at someone other than me

Thanks
