Default boost leak on hx35 and high egts in 4th and 5th gear

ok so vehicle of choice is 1993 dodge w350 with 97 cummins nv4500 tranny and holset hx35. So my issues.... are. I have boost leak at snap ring on compressor cover. is there a spot marked out on the compressor cover for where the open end of the snap ring goes so the housing seals to the rest of the turbo? and other problem is high egts. When im in 4th gear not hammering the truck just, lets say moving along with traffic and not being a slow poke itll read 1000-1100 then i shift into 5th gear and if i dont stay off the throttle and slowly, build mph itll stay at like 1000 but if i try to keep uo with traffic itll read 1200-1300. the 12v has the ve pump. i adjusted fuel screw all the way in till the point of runaway then backed it off. the smoke screw from inside is flush. the starwheel is pretty much turned ccw all the way up and the fuel pin i believe is in the stock position with the shallow side pointing towards the front of the truck? and the side with the lip towards the rear? correct me if im wrong on that. so any input would be great
