Default Humble Beginnings, with frankly ridiculous plans

Hello, I am a new member as well as a new 6BT owner. I have always enjoyed riding with my dad in his 1989 Dodge D250 CTD. It has been tortured every day of its life, and has 465,000 miles on it, all put on it by my family. Once I turned 17, my dad surprised me and told me I could have the truck. It was completely bone stock, and being the dumb teenage boy I was and am, I immediately blew the 727 transmission. After that I let it sit and drove around in my 1989 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado for nearly 2 years. Now here I am, graduated, working a 40+ hour full-time job, and going to welding school to get certified and begin boiler making. Now that I have a small amount of cash coming in, I've finally decided that I want to turn that old Cummins into the beast it deserves to be. I am going to be starting off small for a long while, doing simple stuff like cleaning up the wiring situation (I have spent hours trying and failing to figure out what some of these dang wires are going to), rebuilding the transmission (It currently will use 5 quarts of ATF in a 20 mile trip ), and cosmetic changes and repairs such as new lighting, trim, and wheel and tire combo. Also I plan to fix up the suspension to make sure it lasts a long while for me to save up cash. The engine runs perfectly (After sitting for nearly 2 years I simply put a used battery in it to test it, flicked the key, and the old girl started up without a single problem), so for now I will only be doing basic pump mods and perhaps some under hood cosmetic changes such as cleaning up, new BD Diesel Cool Cover Valve Covers, and basic maintenance (my father enjoyed changing the oil, waiting for probably 20,000 miles, THEN changing it again ). If anybody is interested then I will create another post with the far reaching plan for this truck, but seeing as how I managed to basically write an essay about the very basic stuff, I understand if that should wait for another day. So, thank you all for the gargantuan amount of advice, corrections, and help I am sure you will give me. Thank you, and I will try to keep everything I do posted on here (that is actually noteworthy, of course).
