Default Getting a bit frustrated...

Hi! Stumbled on this site while looking for answers to my ECU problems with my aging (but MUCH loved!) 1997 Ford F-350 crew cab Powerstroke tow vehicle.

My Powerstroke used to be owned by a towing outfit - and I rescued it in 1998. It's barely got 105k on it now, and I bought it with 34k! We towed our 1997 travel trailer with it for 16 years, then upgraded the trailer. It's then that I discovered I needed a intercooler, exhaust and intake improvements, additional tranny cooler (yes, it's an automatic), and finally, a computer reprogram. Gauges installed on window pillar.

We use our beloved p/u for nothing but towing - or hauling junk to the dump. It's our baby! As much as I think I'd love to get a new p/u, that's pretty much out of the question. I'm retired now so we have to watch our $$$. I think it would cost us as much for a new p/u as our house cost us 30 years ago (about $80k), and I just can't wrap my head around that -

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'll be lurking around in the shadows here, reading everything I can about other folks experiences with similar trucks.

I dont have a ford but I think thats the 7.3 engine? I say keep it and upgrade, cheaper than buying new. at 105K miles it has years to go. Good luck

Welcome to the forums. Expect to get at least 250k from that powertrain.
