Thank God for the internet
Ever since I was a kid i loved falling asleep to that hypnotic diesel rythm of my dad and grandpas big rigs , the smell of diesel fuel, and the buzz that goes on around a large truckstop . Im now all grown up and am a fourth generation freight hauler , but unlike my dads dad and even his dad , ive never actually owned the tractor i drive . But two yeaes ago i inheireted an old ford idi 6.9 non turbo truck , and i suddenly relized the beauty of the old skool diesel engine . All of the things that were "magical" when i was a kid suddenly flooded my mind for the first time in years . Ive come to understand lately that when im turning wrenches on my old diesel pickup , im not working , im not fighting mechanical problems, im living , and thats where these internet forums come in. Although I consider myself a solid intermidant mechanic, we all know there is no replacement for experience , ......and WOW ! It it very rare when i cant find a solution to my issue , there has been too many times to count when i was" at a loss" ..."stumped" totally in need of a mechanic . And then low and behold , a few e-searches later i would stumble across the exact discussion , solution , and even step by step instruction ! I cant stress how thankfull i am for the free abality to proactivily solve my own mechanical needs . Once again, Thankyou for all the knowledge and diesel wisdom .................."some men go fishing their whole life and never relize its not the fish they are after "
