my ride is a 1985 chevy K10 short wheel base that I have owned since 1995. in 1995 the original 6.2 diesel was replaced with a 1995 chevy 6.5 long block. the mechanical ip and banks sidewinder turbo was transferred to the new motor. during the last 19 years the following upgrades have been added or repaired, rebuilt 700r4, rancho rear springs 2 1/2" lift, new front springs, slotted front disks, rear disk brakes, 411 gears, auburn gear ected limited slip/electric lockers f/r, 3" down pipe/4" exhaust from stans header's, cibie euro headlight conversion and cibie fog lights, new bucket seats, 33 1250 r15 tires (currently falken at)

in May the 6.5 suffered from broken pistons. rather than rebuilding it, after much research I decided to replace the motor with a GEP 6500 from Teds Trucks. I am very happy with the new motor, it is set up with the mechanical ip, the banks turbo and marine injectors. current hwy mpg is 23.5. (this is an increase from 22mpg best with the old 6.5) the only problems with the r/r was finding metric bolts (GEP motor is all metric) and it took three tries to get the right flex plate (old flex plate was damaged)

i'm retired and enjoy boating and camping.
