Hey All
I'm new to the diesel scene but have a project that I think will be better suited for a diesel. I've not worked on diesel engines that much but I am an engine builder at heart. I've built several stroker race motors for my friends and last year I completed my last project of swapping in a fuel injected LM7/4l60e into a 81C10.
So a new project begins. I've picked up an 89 1/2 ton suburban with a tired 350 and 700r4. I know I can do an LS/4l80 swap but I would like to try something new. I'm not looking to build a hot rod out of this burb. I'm looking for good mileage, reliable power, and still pass emissions. Ultimately the suburban will be a ready to roll camping rig while still turning heads as a semi-daily driver. I'm not looking to crawl over anything huge but maybe play in the mud and dirt once in awhile.

Anyone have any suggestions? 4BT vs 6BT? which Auto trans? Anyone done a swap like this and took really good documentation?
