Default Fresh meat!

Hello!

Name is Dan, live on Long island.
industrial mech/auto/aircraft/hydraulics/pneumatics

Owned my 95 cummins 2500 long bed, auto trans, extended cab, 289k miles, and now its 301k miles.

I got it to haul my truck/trailer, about 6500lbs from this island, to PA or wherever to play. My other truck just got a new motor.. jeep MJ, 4.6... need to finish tuning it..

Since i got this dodge, i have found that the last owner was a true hack. The fuel plate was messed with. Lock bolt was cut, missing bolts on the intake, timing was all off, trans was rebuilt but when i did the shift kit, found it was slightly hacked. Also did in no order:

B&M shift kit, deep pan
autometer pyro, boost, trans
still need to do a new trans cooler and install the probe! ops.
BD waste gate
the KDP fix
radiator, brakes, bearings, hanger bearing, all the stuff that goes bad when its owned by a landscaper and hacked up by people and mother nature.. Little bit of rot.....
305 75 16s
fuel shut off solenoid
custom rear bumper
converter lock up switch
and a bunch of other stuff....

The problems i have had:
CRAP gas milage. started with 10 around town, 13 full load on highway.
I pinned timed the pump it and was WAY off, white smoke, Now its like 13.5MPG around town, 14MPG full load highway. have not really done just highway with no load.

EGTs with load peek at 1100degrees, boost 10-15psi max, 1400-1600RPM, converter locked, 55mph, on a hill, 6500lbs in tow on a hill. The adjustable waste gate is almost as short as it goes. I know the truck could do better but no clue what else was done or broke. Delivery valves or plate may have been messed with. At moment its pushed all the way, AFC cranked, all the simple mods and other things fixed as i find them. No smoke when i mash it or anything.

What i still want to do and some of it is on order as i type this,
4" SS turbo back exhaust <-- just ordered
I have a decent Hx40 holset<-- sitting on the shelf t3 flange either hybrid 35/40 or just 40 as is????
water meth injection<--- just need a tank but have 55 gallons of pure meth for other projects
new throttle cable
BD TPS sensor signal fixer thing?? dunno im getting tired of the trans shifting weird.

CURRENT problems:
trans shifts nice first to second, second third. Lockup gets confused. Throttle valve cable and the valve in the valve body i think was shaved too much by the last rebuilder, wrong spring? May also have a bad OD solenoid? bad throttle valve cable?? I have but not installed the BD signal cleaner or a new TPS?. When i turn off the OD button, it shifts ok but up shifts and down shifts all the time mid throttle.

Millage should be better i think? Need More power! getting sick of the hills on 78 on way to PA from NY.

I have the tools, NOT the time, to time the pump properly, rebuild/mod the AFC, install the Larry B fuel gauge, relocate the dam fuel filter, fix the pump return line.

I did install the adjustable fuel regulator on the pump. BTW when i did that, there WAS no valve! Larry B could not believe the truck ran with no relief valve on the return line...

SO the question is, delivery valves, fuel plate, injectors? whats next to get the power and MPG better on highway and fix what could have been hacked before i got it? I just tow with it and have a 10 mile round trip to work. side streets..
Could care less about racing it. Just need better milage and power to make these hills.

Sorry for the long read.

you should put your questons in the proper cummins section for the best response.
