Default Hello everyone

Well I joined Diesel Bombers because I've been looking for a good truck for over a month. When I was younger I had a 96 Ford F150 /w a I6 300 and a 96 Dodge 2500 HD /w a 5.9. Over the past couple years I have missed having a full size truck (currently have a 2000 S10) and a few months ago I decided I want to have a good truck again. I am in the Marine Corps stationed on Camp Lejeune, NC and I see tons of classic cars down here that aren't just rustbuckets like back home (I'm from Michigan). I and some of my friends down here decided we wanted to start buying some old cars to fix and flip or completely restore for something to do. I was originally planning on buying a older F150 (around 86 to 96 since I have always liked them best) as I did more research I found that the problem with them was that I would not have enough towing capacity for a car trailer with a car on it, so I decided I was going to buy a diesel since they would definitely have the tow capacity I needed and they generally get better fuel mileage. So I've been looking at diesels for over a month doing research on different trucks and I have been reading a lot on the forums here and decided I needed to join to get the best input on what I should look for in a truck.

Being that I really don't know anything about diesels any information I can get will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to hearing from all the knowledge I have seen so far on the site.

Thanks,
Nick

Welcome to Diesel Bombers.... We are more than happy to help you on your quest to buy a diesel powered pickup. Their are several generations of each engine from Dodge, Ford, Chevy?GMC. And what you want comes down to what you need? As far from cab size, comfort, power, cost of repair and maintaince. I can tell you what engine I like the best and that is the Cummins ISB. But feel free to create a post in the general truck section and alot of us will chime in.
